Blotter: Appeals court upholds ban on US Internet gambling

A federal appeals court ruled this week that the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act does not threaten the privacy rights of online gamblers, nor is it too vague to comply with the US Constitution. Blotter: New casino opens in Pittsburgh

The new Rivers Casino near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, opened last weekend to fireworks, confetti, music and capacity crowds. The new site offers over three thousand slot machines, most of which were in use within the first hour after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new casino also conducted two “test runs” on 5 August and 7 August; casino officials donated the proceeds from those sessions to local charities.

International: Ladbroke’s big move
